The Battle Over the Thompson Divide from Dorothy M. Atkins on Vimeo.
Four hours west of Denver, the small ranching of Carbondale, Colo. is fighting oil and gas companies making moves to develop federal land in an area known as the Thompson Divide. Carbondale residents are at impasse as they wait for the Bureau of Land Management to review the applications for permits to drill. Residents only have to look 30 miles west, to the Town of Rifle, to see the impacts energy development has on a small town’s economy. 2014 Berkeley Film Foundation Student Award Winner
